My cowpeas did that too! But we have a long growing season here, and it turns out that all the light-colored ones were simply earlier producers. The reds (planted at the same time) came in _much_ later. All the other colors produced so few that I had to segregate their storage for preferential planting next time. I do prefer the early and vigorous production of the light-colored beans, but for now, color variation is almost more important to me; hopefully there’ll be some crossing somewhere and I can get the best of all worlds. ---
