Breeding tulips for flavor

Has any body seen this video?

What do y’all think about it? He said tulips don’t taste good, some people are allergic to them. Bulbs apparently need to be peeled & central bud removed in order to eat them safely.

Allergies are always something to be wary of, particularly if a specific species is known to be more common for people to be allergic to. From what I’ve read, hopniss has a worryingly high rate of people who turn out to be allergic to it – probably similar to peanuts (and they’re both legumes, so it might even be for similar reasons).

As for tulips not tasting good, that hasn’t been my experience, but I haven’t eaten the central bulbs; I only ate the cloves on the sides, and then replanted the central bulbs. I don’t really plan to ever eat the central bulbs, either, since I figure digging up the bulbs, pulling off the new cloves on the sides, and replanting the main bulbs is a solid way to have my tulips and eat them, too.
