“Hmmm, this sweet potato has gone rotten. I’ll stick it in my humanure compost pile, along with all of this week’s food scraps.”

One month later, to the vigorous sweet potato vines growing out of the top, which are three times larger than the ones in my garden beds, which were planted three months earlier:

“Well . . . I’m not going to harvest you, given your location, but . . . please feel free to flower and make seeds!”
