This was my first year growing the Lofthouse landrace dry bush beans (from Experimental Farm Network in my case), and they performed well for me this year, too - I wrote up notes on growing them this year here: [2026 GTS Grow Reports - Common Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) - #14 by poppy](https://goingtoseed.discourse.group/t/2026-gts-grow-reports-common-beans-phaseolus-vulgaris/4648/14) Good to know they performed well for you too. Any thoughts or tips on growing bush beans - I had some rain during Sept. when they were supposed to dry down, and the pods got moldy and so on. Sowing and growing earlier in the year will help in the future, but it seems like a real downside of bush beans that the pods touch the ground. Also, how many bush beans do you grow per sqft, and what are your yields like per sqft at that density? I found this article: > **[The ROI of Growing Your Own Beans](https://sagesacre.com/2023/08/02/the-roi-of-growing-your-own-beans/)** > > Sure, people who grown their own veggies are smarter and more attractive than those who don’t (science fact), but are you saving any money when you grow something that’s cheap like beans? We did the math, and the answer is: yes! You’re saving a... they mentioned yielding around 1/4 lb of dry beans per plant. --- _[View the full topic](https://goingtoseed.discourse.group/t/joseph-lofthouses-dry-bush-beans/4866)._
