Pea growing techniques and types

My apologies I have to comment on techniques for growing…my dad used to grow three acres at a time, with and without trellis structures. Snow snd snap peas always had a trellis due to regular harvesting…too be able to eat them, and the vine will keep growing. For shelling peas it just depended on the variety and how tall they were supposed to grow. If over 4 feet, then he would still put up a trellis.
Birds and rodents always attack the seedlings when direct seeded. We built a scarecrow on a pole..placed in a pipe so it would turn with the wind. It helped a little bit.
Im growing inside a 20x40 greenhouse, direct sow and try to keep out the ground squirrels. They still get in and damage the plants by eating their fill of leaves. I grow in several areas and they never seem to visit the entire greenhouse house, so most of the plants produce. I do use a trellis, and I do plant basil and dill everywhere.
