Serendipity Seed Swap! (US)

The seed box came in today, I am going to go through it tonight and try to get it back out as soon as we can.

Add me to the list please. Thinking it should be into winter by the time it gets to me then. And I should have any seeds from this year ready to share.

Does anyone know if these the regular watermelon types, that have the normal watermelon flavor and texture or are they something different?

You are added!

I think these are from @markwkidd

Yeah, as they weren’t in there when I had the box, and I didn’t add them! And its kinda fun thinking about what all might be added over the next year… I’m saving seeds all over the place to add next time I get the box. (but no, not ready to be added to the list yet….)

Those seeds didn’t come from me :alien:

@LarimarHomestead Storage melons are bred to hold in pantry/root cellar type storage for weeks to months without spoiling. I’ve never worked with them, but I suspect the texture and flavor is a bit different when first harvested, and continues to cure/ripen in storage like a winter squash?

Also, sent you a DM with my address since I’m next in line for the box. Take as much time as you need.

Awesome! I’d love to get some too! Wild Physalis are so hard to find.

I feel ya, I’ve managed to save some unripe wild groundcherry seeds before the lawnmower killed the plant.

Lawnmowers can be so heartbreaking. There are so many wild treasures that get destroyed by careless mowing!

This is so true! Earlier this summer, I was eyeing a patch of native purple poppy mallow, hoping to get some seed, and it got mowed before I got a chance. So did the wild/feral mustard down the road earlier in spring. I was able to snag a couple heads of salsify before those got mowed down, though!

Watch those same areas in the spring. It may be in the soil seedbank.

I just found winged sumac as well. I’ll move some of the plants and save some seeds.

Update on the box, sending it out Saturday. Ending up decluttering our seed collection and added these back.

We will update once it is sent off to @avery.bowron

The seed box was mailed out this morning, and is on it’s way to @avery.bowron

@UnicornEmily can you please add me back to the bottom of the list again? I am sure that I can collect lots more seed for the box next time it comes around lol. We have more to put in but were in the procress of drying.

Neato! I often do that, too — wind up taking more bags of seeds than I end up using, and then put extras back when I receive the box later. Those all look like great seeds you’ve added!

Yep, I’m happy to add you back to the bottom of the list again.

I am trying to declutter our collection during each seed train box cycle. Thank you Emily :seedling::blush::seedling:

You’re welcome! That was pretty much why I thought this would be such a great idea. Everyone is bound to have seeds they want to add to their collection, as well as seeds they want to give away because they no longer want/need them!

It’s especially neat with perennials and weedy annuals. There are often way more seeds than you could possibly ever need coming out of your fruit trees or purslane or whatever. And somebody else is bound to be thrilled to have them!

Box was delivered but I’m away and won’t have a chance to go through it for a couple days. @UnicornEmily PM me your address when you get a chance.

I’m still processing seeds for a few things that just dried down that I’d like to include (mostly carrots & collards), so I’ll plan to get the box back in the mail by the weekend after next.

Okay, that sounds good! Carrots and collards are seeds I like, anyway.

I’ll PM you my address!
