I’ve been saving cherry pits from the ones I got from the store. I know it might futile., but I’ll try. I’d love some pits from cherrys that aren’t the convention stock.
Cherry pits sound good! I wouldn’t put a huge amount in though because they are heavy and will affect the shipping cost
I’ve sprouted plum seeds from the box and I’m curious to see what I get, say 4 years down the road
I don’t expect much adaptation progress with trees in my lifetime, but with the smaller plants and their 1-2 year cycle, things are evolving for me!
I’m coming up soon in the queue too. It’s a little early in the season for me to have lots of new seeds to add, but I should have at least 3 new things plus the usual contributions from my standing seed collection!
If there are a lot of people who’d be interested in cherry seeds, it would be okay to put in a ton, and I’ll plan to pull out most of the ones that haven’t been taken yet and put them into the backup box when it’s my turn. I often do that; it serves the double purpose of helping the box stay a reasonable weight, while also providing fodder for the backup box. ![]()
Oh, and I also refill anything that’s running low (or has run out) from the backup box the next time I get the main box. It seems like a good way to keep things rotating. ![]()
Hey y’all, I wanted to apologize that I only just got the box in the mail today. We had a recent move and I discovered that the seed box ended up in a pile of moving boxes rather than at the PO.
The one positive thing about it taking so long is that I’d harvested a ton of seeds as part of our move that I was able to include that wouldn’t have been otherwise.
Add me to the list please. I think it’s long enough that I have plenty of time to plant more and collect more by the time it gets to me.
That is a bright side! Thank you for updating us, and I hope your move went smoothly. ![]()
And sure, @KadenceLunemann – you are added! ![]()
Kadence, going to hop in and say I’d like the radish seeds and maybe some Sugar Pie Pumpkin. I’d like to join the seed train later—not feeling like I have a ton of supply right now as I’ve tried to plant a lot of it out. Just saved chive, kale and fernleaf biscuitroot seeds though…
I’m enjoying my first crop of radishes & just trying to see what varieties I like first before bothering with the seed saving, although it seems easy enough… probably succession sowing is a good idea to that end… I think I like Cherry Belle and that one looks similar.
I will have a few parnsip seeds to add when the box gets to me
Original thread here:
and I have a sharing/trading thread in the sharing seeds section if you want to share them directly!
But really just wanted to brag about having an entire mixing bowl of seeds to show off XD
That is a very show-off-able amount! ![]()
Just a FEW lol ![]()
Did the box move on?
I have the box, I’m almost ready to send it on. Could I also be added to the bottom the of list again please?
Side note, I have peach seeds from this year, are people interested in them? My entire county had almost 100% fruit loss this year, so these seeds might be a bit more tolerant of frost and drought; though they are from a commercial orchard so their tolerance might also be null
Awesome!
Sure, I’ll add you to the bottom again!
Were they tasty freestone peaches? If so, I’d be interested in them.
My county had almost 100% fruit loss this year, too. We got a really, really, realllllly late snow. As my neighbor put it, “March and April switched places this year!”
So far, I saved at least a few seeds of every tree that had some seeds in the box. Always ready to grow trees!
@Naomiupland Could I get your address please?
Yes they were delicious freestone! I’ll put as many as I can into the box
Awesome! I imagine I’ll grab some and plant them, then.
I have a long space that could use some peach seedlings . . . ![]()
