2025 GTS Grow Reports: Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus)

Those are interesting.

Usually white or light colored okra seeds are immature, but they will also be soft/squishy and will shrink and wrinkle as they dry down.

Yours look physically mature just with lighter coloring. I would assume they are mature seed and it is genetic.

You could try some germination testing and see if they are viable.

Do you know if all the lighter colors came from the same plant/same pod?

The lightest colored seeds may not be viable. Do the germination test and see if they sprout.

All the light colored seeds were from pods with exclusively light colored seeds. None of these light colored seeds are at all squishy for wrinkled.

I will DEFINITELY do some germ tests! My threshold for re-seeding is 70%.

Hey, it’s day 13 of my germ test. “Best” seed (on left) is 8 out of 20. “Moldy” seed (on right) is 3 out of 20.

Interesting, and you do have a few viable seeds.

Love this photo. May I use it in a GTS okra crop guide?
