This is interesting.
Seems like there is a lot of potential for lots of different experiments with this alien pollination technique.

I would suspect an alien-pollinated plant may be more accepting of any more closely related species. So it could be very useful with attempted hybridization of species.

Exactly. I love how low effort it is too, no prior grafting or crossing or anything.

Fascinating. Iā€™m developing domestic tomato/Solanum habrochaites hybrids. My habro population is essentially one of single seed descent. Perhaps this method might be used to increase the genetic diversity in the population.

I agree! This seems like all the more reason to grow kinship gardens and protect and support our pollinators, potentially letting this happen naturally.
