What kinds of apple varieties would excite you?

I’ve been buying some apple seeds from Skillcult (hee hee hee!), and I’m reflecting that my favorite trees that grow from those seeds might be different from somebody else’s. So, I’m curious: what kinds of traits would make you think, “Oh, that apple sounds awesome”? Skillcult has new apple seeds available

In case you’re interested in growing apple trees from seed, Steven Edholm has some great seeds available – and apparently he just added a few more that weren’t there when I placed an order a few weeks ago! In case you’re interested in winter-ripening apples, he now has Lady Williams, Pink Parfait, Pomo Sanel, and Winter Blend seeds available. I bought some.

Just a reminder to save your fruit seeds!

If you have a tree that makes tasty fruit, especially if it’s an unusual species or variety, I highly recommend saving as many seeds as you can so you can swap them with other people, either in your community or online. This goes double if you live in a warm zone (say, zone 6 or above) and are growing fruit trees that are only hardy to your zone and above. Somebody who’s trying to adapt that species to grow a zone or two colder would be greatly helped out by being given a whole bunch of seeds. …
