Excited for the Vigna Mix?

Every time I think I know a lot of unusual species, somebody tells me about another one I’ve never heard of before. That’s so cool!

No bambara groundnuts were donated to the mix. It is something to think about for the future though.

Interesting, then what else could they be? Might they possible have been bred with it tho? Reguardless It’s still subgenus vigna, right?

They are cowpeas. Hercules is the common name of the tan one. The black one is a variant on the same shape. There is a list of seed shape classifications in the usda germplasm somewhere.

Thank you for Correcting me, I was Convinced that Only Bambara Nuts could be that round & Huge for a Vigna. I just Looked it up & Hercules (Vigna unguiculata) doesn’t dig it’s pods in the ground like peanuts or Bambara Nuts. This is awesome & Exciting because it means a Rare New Bean is in the mix!

Can we separate the Vigna by Subgenus this year? According to Phylogenic Trees, Vigna Beans Hybridize mostly between 2-3 groups (AKA Subgenus).

Should I share a Guide an ID for the subgenera?
