Hey All-
This is my second year growing with the Going to Seed so year two for the adaptation projects.
The favas look great- Last year this project started with about 12 GRIN accessions from South America - they crossed and produced lots of seed last year. This is the first year growing out the cross. I planted 2 50 foot beds…There was more diversity in flower color which is fun to see!
The watermelon are on their way- they sure seem to get a slow start for me. Maybe I plant them too early. I started and planted over 300 plants- I planted them a lot closer together than I did last year-12" instead of 18-24". I hope to get more diversity in less space and also hope to create more leaf cover to deter weeds… I have three plants that volunteered from the grow out last year which I find amazing! Keepers for sure! I"ll post photos of those soon…
