Is anyone working with Gooseberries?
I just got an Oregon Champion Gooseberry from Tractor Supply for 50 cents, but I have a feeling it won’t do too well here. But I’ve discovered there are wild gooseberries growing somewhere in Texas. If I can find some of those I can cross them, but curious if anyone has done any work with them.
I want to! I’ve studied a little about them. Theoretically every species of Ribes is cross compatible but 2 main groups still exist, currants & gooseberries.
Awesome! Take photos, do you know what species they might be? and yes if they taste great & already adapted to your region (because they are already growing in your region), why not cross them? I like it!
