I have three oca plants that have so far survived my long, hot, dry summer (yay!), but no sign of flowering.
No surprise, since they are highly day length sensitive.
I’m wondering if it would make sense to dig them up before frost, stick them in pots, and bring them indoors to go under my grow light in winter. I could control the amount of light they got that way.
No experience on that, but like I said in other topic they have slightly problematic pollination system and that’s why you might not have even change to get them pollinated even if they flower. Atleast if they are different varieties, although I’m not even sure they selfpollinated. It should work for you outdoors if you have long enough frost free season. Somewhere there was talk about that moisture might make them flower. It might have been that when I grew them there was some correlation between rains and flowering, but I only read about it after. Mostly flowers seemed to come out of nowhere and not even all buds in that bunch opened before it withered in few days. I would still be patient and maybe read some grower blogs. Next year you might want to get as many varieties as you can get to have the best change of flowering and pollination.
