I started a bit of a pumpkin project - goal is short season dual purpose (pie and jack), adapted to our high desert climate. Not sure if I can improve much on Montana Jack, but fun anyway. Direct seeded June 15th, just before our traditional June 20th hard frost. We made eight mounds in a grass field and planted 10 seeds per mound.

Very cool. I tried doing this in Florida, but it failed because of insect pressure. I love pepo pumpkins.
As long as I can keep the deer and chipmunks off them, it should be fine!
