Very happy that reached you @NickRoutledge . Thanks @julia.dakin for making connections
I know I have already linked this, but it is such an outstanding quality production that i hope everybody knows it.
You can also buy it on DVD, or make donations. Translated in 9 languages.
All seed saving basics, in general, starting with botany, and on top of that many wonderful contents per species.
Of course they want to maintain varieties “pure” (isolation distances…), but there are so many interesting tips for seed savings in it! Notably their harvesting, drying, fermenting and storing tips. So that we can visualise.
Also, it is meant for the gardener. Then… that is a super super educational content! That can be shared to nearly everyone on this planet.

English-speaking friends a brief glimpse of this man:
Outstanding conference made my very good friend Yann Lopez about his overall approach: “natural farming”, Fukuoka’s style, here adapted to market gardener in the continental Europe context. Still the same strict no-till of Fukuoka’s approach. Yann taught me (and @isabelle ) everything about cover crops afew years ago, long before I started rambling about this subject on this forum^^.
Laurent Welsch also has been of good influence over Yann’s approach. It is on his farm that he discovered temporary cover cropping. Here is another outstanding recent video with Laurent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ak6hw7w_39I
Yann then perfected his practises using the book of Frederic Thomas (@Hugo ) about Cover Crops. He then transcripted this more large scale farming book to his market gardener timings.
yep… French only
Bonus: him talking about his landrace breeding Joseph style, very thankful to @Joseph_Lofthouse, and how it relates to his/our practises, in this short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLr9gw1UanI
What a great videos Thomas! Thanks a lot. Put them on the socials. Hope somebody will see it.
The book is quite expensive i find. Is this the book you advice as a paradigm shifter?
Sorry I don’t remember a book I advised as paradigm shifter! Oups… But yes this one of F Thomas is interesting, but kind of too technical or too specialised in my opinion.
Yann’s book, just published (here) is partially an improved synthesis of Thomas’s listings, made appliable to small scale gardening and in which there is so much more: crop rotations over the years, yiels/m²/species, plans, estimated weekly harvests and surfaces for a family of 4 vegetarians, many tips and organizational points… The only thing he doesn’t give is his choices of varieties, which would have been a bit too specific… I can tell you if needed. Anyway he is converting most of his crops to landrace breeding…
Due to this thread I went down the rabbit hole on John Kempf’s podcast.
In the podcast they mention Dr Christine Jones. I searched her website. Valuable information from this woman. Interesting stuff about Australia in there too.

French language only. Yesterday’s super exciting discussion about both evolutionary populations and the Andine cosmovision: seeds in perspective of an overall and civilisationnal philosophy, mindset, ways of relating with nature.
Discussions about the non opposition between western and more native ways: differences and common trends on the long run, renewals, initiatives…
With Alain, a super inspired franco-peruvian guy, both farmer and philosopher, who will be at the international gathering

I don’t have the patience to watch or listen to a lot of videos and presentations, but I sort of skipped through most of this one. I agree with what he says at the very end, starting about 1:02:15. You don’t have to know everything before you start saving seeds.
follow up on the previous one , how much time do tasks take to become self sufficient on 750 m2 half an acre or smaller…
super inspiring video on rainwater management that recommended me by @marcela_v .
the best water storage is soil, and when this is considered on a large scale and collectively we can change an entire region! Great project !
