Local Food Begins with Local Seeds! (coalition project)

At the OSCG conference panel in March somebody asked me “what would you do with a million dollars?” Well I’m tired of the importance of seeds being just a cute and ignored topic in the food systems spaces (and almost everywhere), so I said I want Super Bowl ads promoting regionally adapted seeds.

Most of us working in the local or community seed world (besides the giant companies of course, but including everybody from regional seed companies, seed libraries, seed savers) would benefit from more public awareness so we’re not all doing it individually and sometimes without much effect. Sounds like we need to collaborate more.

Big thanks to @gregg_muller @jannamin @maria.erb @Taja @wilddreamsfarm, and those who took on a while category of people, @anna, Katie Filar, Toby and Michelle Dang.

Now that we have our interview system, people and tech worked out, help us fill some interview spots! We want to hear from all of you who care about seeds-- what you’re doing, what challenges are, what resources would be helpful. And if there’s a person you want to send this link to that we should talk to, please do!

After 30ish interviews I can say that in the implementation phase of what’s gathered in these interviews, it’s probably not going to be super bowl ads.

Thank you!

And if you want to have a voice in this but prefer written responses, here’s a link.
