  1. I had a fail with the Vasconcellea cuttings. My fault. They came looking good.
  2. A couple weeks ago I planted Babaco a “sterile” Vasconcellea cross. I have bought 3 dwarf lady red tropical papaya seedlings. I planted 10 seeds of the V. pubescens “Jamie” variety and 5 seeds of “improved” V. quercifolia which might be from crossing with the “Jamie”. I just got 10 seeds of V. cauliflora to plant.
  3. I will experiment rooting cuttings from the Babaco once it gets big enough.

This is about breeding that has been done between Carica and Vasconcellea.

I’d forgotten that I’d done that. None of the seedlings survived for long, and a few deeper freezes killed the papaya trees. Alas, zone 8b is too far north :sad_but_relieved_face:
