sad news relayed in the media…Casez Piscura the founder and owner of Wild Mountain Seeds died last week.
His work was so awesome and inspiring !
how sad to see this genius go…
His seeds from his farm worked terribly well on my land.
We shall continue to propagate this in my garden in its memory :
Yellow Storage Onion Grex, Mountain Roaster sweet pepper, Holy Italian sweet pepper, Desert Spirit Culinary Landrace Squash, Early Wonder Tall Top beets, Hakurei Salad Turnip, Wild Mountain Tomatillo Grex, Purple Stemmed Rockette, Ping Tong Shaped Grex, Aji de Colorado Alpino, Alpine Poblano, Galina tomato, Peacevine Cherry tomato, Mountain Girl tomato, Mini Red Heirloom tomato…
His work still is awesome and inspiring! Im glad you posted this, this weighs heavy on my heart too. It has really emphasized how grateful I am for any breeding work that has been done and for all the people that do it. I hope everyone is doing well. Don’t be afraid to reach out if you’re struggling
a little story that says a lot about his incredible work:
I tried dozens of varieties of eggplant on my garden, none grows including Ping Tong…
But his Ping Tong Shaped Grex produces hundreds of fruits…so just for this little detail I would never forget this guy that I would love have met.
all this work of plant crossing created many visible things but also many invisible things that connect the mind and heart of people beyond borders and understandable things !
Rest In Seed Peace Casey, your soul will always be there through your seeds
I grew their poblano mix in Florida. I fell in love with those plants. Perhaps the tastiest peppers I ever grew. My Favorites. This is terribly heartbreaking.
My goodness this is devastating news to receive this mourning. I still have grexes via Wild Mountain Seed as it was the first seed outfit name I felt sung directly to my own farming experience in my own mountain valley - albeit much further North than his haunts. The banjo incorporated into their logo also brought me a smile. I shall continue growing seeds in his Honor. I share in grieving this loss. Thank you for sharing.
