Hey y’all! A bit of an update on our sweet corn crop for this year. We lost the majority of our transplants to pest pressure and have struggled to get them to take. This year we expanded into a new field and are growing 6 50’ rows of sweet corn rather than 3 100’ rows to help with pollination. We were able to transplant 3 rows and had to direct seed the other 3. Hopefully it gives us a bit of a spread out harvest period! We cover cropped the field over winter, mowed it down, tarped it for a month and planted directly into the beds while leaving the mulch to decompose and feed the corn and suppress the weeds a bit throughout the season!
