Hi Adrian, great to hear from you. I’ve got 2 questions :
what has been exceptional ?
why do you want stabilize this cross?
Or another way to say that : on which trait(s) do you want stabilize this project ?
I’m interested for 2 reasons:
I will shortly sow my F3s deriving from Tetsukabuto (some 62.5% moschata, others 62.5% maxima), which I’ve found disappointing in F2 (regarding vigor, storage and yields…)
trying to circumvent maxima disabilities in my ground (sandy, low ph, plants collapsing early, poor fruit quality…), I’m considering doing other interspecific crosses but with moschata as the mother plant - Tetsukabuto using a maxima as mother plant (Kurukawa n2, eq. Futsu Black) -, that to bring in maxima not only moschata’s nuclear DNA but also organelles, which seems to play a big role in moschata resilience and overall adaptability.
Until now my crosses haven’t been directional in the sense that I have no clue of parents : one share of my 2024 Tetsus were in my moschata patch, the other in my maxima patch, and reversely in 2025. I still have seeds of 2024 and 2025 fruits if interested.
First exeptionnal thing: -a dry and very sweet pulpit in fruits up to 6kg.
Some plants are able to get up to 6 fruits by plants
* why do you want stabilize this cross?
Transfered it this taste and the carachteristics of pulpits at more early plants adapted at less propices climates.
A optional objective is to crossed one of thoses plants with a other maxima

You right F2 are very weak.
Eaven this year i note that some seeds have great difficulties to germinated. Some of my seed seem don’t have collar between the root and the cotyledons.
My observation:One generation can be very strong and the next generation not sufficiently vigorous for to be able to give a fruit
Small advice: If you want take a maxima in your cross, take a blue maxima
