Last year I managed to grow one maxima squash plant that went bonkerz at a parking lot.
This was the same placed sparyed with herbicides but the guy missed a spot and this grew. Nothing is growing in the background plot.
My squash plant somehow figured out to shelter the ripening fruits inside a manhole cover. Oddly enough after a frost, the leavers around the manhole cover weren’t completely frost damaged (Almost like Manhole cover provided some shelter/heat).
I harvested the fruit green to let ripen indoors off the vine (But also I wasn’t sure if the guy would spray again).
Eventually after 5 months the squash ripened to this state. What’s odd is the way the seeds look.
There definitely was an embyro inside but it did feel a little skinny for a maxima seed. Probably not fully developed.
I’m not sure how they will grow, they probably will struggle with germination. I have them dried and stored. Any thoughts?
Someone also trew away an onion bulb (At least i think that is what this is). It was growing next to my Maxima Squash.
I also noticed how nothing grew in the background plot, almost like whoever was spraying herbicides missed a spot.
This is how it looked like before in spring & after in summer (I think some Herbicide was sprayed, also notice the wild onions in the corner, probably some herbicide that only affects Eudicots)
Feel free to suggest any trips or ways I can do urban gardening better? maybe I fix this set up or find another alternative I didn’t think of? maybe I should trial different species?
