Weird Corn Growth

Has anyone ever seen this in their corn?

I know this is probably just a result of growing condition extremes. I thought it was very interesting.
I was happy to get a couple seeds to save from what I thought could be zero.

I have three seeds total from this springs corn…

And one plant may have more, it is greener and thicker than the others.

Very interesting, What did they get pollinated by? Maybe the extreme weather did something with the pollen & ovary? How extreme were the conditons tho? Crazy cold or heat?

Cool and very wet spring (constant rain, 65°F-80°F) then an abrupt shift to 90°-100°F+ and no rain.

I assume the timing caused the outer “husk” to dry but it continued growing inside while being restricted. Then the whole plant dried enough that the seeds just popped out.
It’s just really weird how the kernels grew to maturity on such a thin stem and so spaced out.
