@LeeAngold @DawsonL @NicoleB @Marvin Just wanted to make sure you hear about the seed share opening!
Wasnt sure where to post this questionâŠ
I know it is probably completely redundant to ask but does anyone have an estimate as to what the pole/bush ratio might be in the canadian gts common bean seed mix? Perhaps donaters labeled their seeds when mailing out? I feel a bit silly and embarrassed for asking but it would be extremely helpful to figure out where i should place these seeds around my garden layout. Aiming to focus on pole beans, as opposed to bush. Thought it wouldnt hurt to ask.
Thanks for anyone who might know and hope i provide a chuckle at the very least ![]()
Not a silly question!
Itâs hard to say, as we donât have that info. But from growing the maximum diversity mix last year (which will be strongly represented with returns and 25% leftovers), I would suggest to work under the assumption that they are all bush beans until proven otherwiseâŠ
This opens a good topic. The max diversity mix fits some purposes, but for my garden Iâd be in favor of also having a pole green bean mix. Unsure if you are focusing on green beans or dry beans but we could all collaborate to make it happen.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and give me an idea of what you expect!
And yes, green vs dry bean is its own other concern. I personally have my beans divided into multiple categories; those for fresh eating and others for dry and then further divided into bush/pole collections. I love beans and grow a wide variety for various purposes, plus they are my favourite crop to squeeze into empty spots in the garden and intercrop for extra nitrogen!
Id personally love it if we could all collaborate on this, offering different categories within the gts common bean mix supply.

Oooh thank you!!
Good morning!
We still have some seeds left in the Canadian seed share, and orders have slowed down quite a bit.
If you come across this post and were hoping to try a few more varieties, feel free to place a second order.
