Canadian seed train

I think starting a Canadian seed share would be a great idea. I am starting to get quite a seed collection and definitely have some I could send to add to the mix.

some of the crops id be interested in starting with would be any of the squashs,Melons Cucumbers, sweet corn, beans, lettuce or other greens maybe we could do some type of flower mix and mix all the edible/medicinal/pollinator plants together

It’s in the works! Winter squashes, muskmelons, cucumbers, sweet corn, beans are on our short list.

I can contribute sweet corn from last year if that’s ok. Also, I can contribute winter squash and beans (pole, runner, garden, and dry bush) How about summer squash? (Pepos, zucchinis, and spaghettis)

Hi Canadians, Hugo Martorell from Seed Change hosts a monthly meeting, and this month on Tuesday at 8 am, they will talk about growing landraces and collaborating with Going to Seed. Sounds like there are a few farmers that would want to contribute seeds and participate in Canadian focused seed sharing projects, they just aren’t here

Can any of you come to the discussion? Sorry for the last minute notice. Click here if you want to come.

I’d love to come but google calendar sems to be acting up for me right now

I can’t because I already have a commitment that morning

I’d like to come too but I don’t see any event scheduled for Tuesday on the Google calendar?

It’s on there now, thank you, and maybe this link is better, The invitation is french but Hugo said the meeting would be in English.

Thanks Julia! I plan to attend tomorrow.
@Patate just tagging you in case you didn’t see the thread and want to attend

We haven’t picked summer squash at this point (keeping things small for now) but I’ll note the interest. We’ll appreciate your contributions once we open up for receiving!

Thanks, Ill try to make it but might have to miss some of it

We had a good call this morning! I see lots of potential in Canada

I see a few contributors to the Canadian seed share program in this thread, thank you!

Just a reminder to send your seeds this week. Info is in this thread: Canadian seed share pilot program 2025

The Canadian seed share program opens up to the public tomorrow (March 20)!
If you’re in Canada and have ordered from GTS before (including courses), you should receive an email tomorrow morning with the link. Maybe someone can post it here.
We managed to keep shipping cost at $5; just make sure you only order Canada items.
I hope some of you will find crops they are interested in so we can keep this going! Thanks to all the contributors, to Ashley who did all the receiving/packing/shipping work, and to GTS and Anna for supporting this project in many different ways.
