Canadian seed share pilot program 2025

Hi,

We’ve been working on a small Canadian seed share program for this year. Let us know if you have any questions!

Announcing the Canadian Seed Share

We are thrilled to introduce the Canadian Seed Share as a new pilot program this year! We’ll be offering seven crops shipped from Canada, exclusively to Canadian growers: moschata squash, maxima squash, cucumbers, melons, common beans, sweet corn, and broccoli. Due to import regulations, Canadians can continue to order from the US program, but folks in the US won’t be able to order from Canada.

If you’d like to contribute seed to GTS Canada’s 2025 offering, please fill out the linked form. We’ll begin accepting shipments of seed once the postal strike ends, but please aim to have your seeds shipped by January 20th, 2025. Seeds will be available to contributors in late February, and to everyone else (in Canada!) around March 20th, 2025, through the Going to Seed webpage.

I’m excited to see how this program comes together! Thank you for your initiative and hard work! Also, are common beans like garden beans that you eat fresh or dry beans?

Thanks for your interest Nicole!

Common beans would be all types of Phaseolus vulgaris; it would certainly help if people sending seeds indicate that they are sending dry beans or fresh beans, as well as pole vs bush beans, and keep them separate.

Got it!

If you are a seed contributor in Canada and have filled the form, you should have received shipping instructions.

For anyone else in Canada who would like to contribute you can still contribute until January 20th via the following form: 2025 Seed Contributions

Note that, despite what’s written on the contribution form, we cannot provide shipping labels for Canada this year. However, we do provide reimbursement for shipping (with a receipt).
A link to the reimbursement form has been sent to all contributors in the instructions email.

Ok good to know thank you! Also, I need to know the address to ship it to.

Thank you!
Nicole
