We need some inspiring and memorable titles for future fundraising campaigns!
My most recent title is ‘Empower the Next Generation of Seed Savers’… which now sounds wierd to me but I don’t have anything better. So throw out any ideas you got! Also for any of the other text blocks. This is a draft. Humor is appreciated too
Here is the current version format. Feel free to suggest or rewrite any portion in your response!

Empower the next generation of seed savers
Subtitle: Help inspire a shift towards adaptation, community, and diversity
Text block: Through teaching ancestral selection methods, facilitating seed sharing, and ongoing learning and experimentation, Going to Seed helps people grow locally-adapted gardens that thrive without inputs.
By making a donation you are making Landrace Gardening more widely accessible to everyone who will benefit, and helping us instigate a shift in the modern agricultural mindset.
Our current projects that need funding are the Landrace Seed Library, our course in development that teaches about the methods of the Indigenous farmers of Southern Mexico.
This is a tricky one Julia.
Where is going to be put out?
A In a place where seedsavers are the main target? Then it should be more specific i believe.
B in a place where gardenlovers are the main target group?
C in a place where idealistic altruists are the main target group?
I think this title is good for B.
In case it’s A i’d be more specific. In case C i’d spur generalised fashion slang like biodiversity, solidarity and even self sufficiency.
Ideally because folk in general have the attention span of a goldfish, to lure as many people in, start attracting a big group C but add a little teaser word they can impress their friends with. I’d go for modern landracing.
Lure thèm in and bait them, then stun them with a mindblowing phrase from the landracing book. Like the one about “standing on the shoulders of our illiterate seed saving ancesters we envision a future of mostly self sustainable communities growing locally adapted and résilient unique varieties leading to edible biodiversity and everlasting abundance”
Something pompous like that i’d say, so they tear up and draw their wallets.
I also believe the pictures of seeds should be spectaculary colorful so people share it to impress their friends with their find.
Great question, I should have included that. For this week we just need send something to the 360 people on our email list who are enrolled in the course, so they are familiar with some things.
Now that we have non-profit status, we’ll be shifting the model. Course and community will be free, and we’ll fundraise to the people that sign up, as well as look for grants and foundation sponsors. And perhaps ‘members’ will have access to everything, some details still TBD.
But, we don’t have our website yet, (where the seeds, course, and community will all be on the same site) Once that happens, we will need some new campaigns that reach the broader public.
I love what you said about luring, baiting, and stunning If you want to write out the parts using the format I just added to the bottom of the first message, I will make a version exactly how you suggest for the next one!
You mean for me to rewrite thé text from thé bold text “help…etc” and on?
I think that text is very descriptive for people of group B, hard to make it more clear. Difficult to do that better really.
Do you want i give you some for group A or group C or do you want me to give it a try to “funk” your text up a bit?
I could try, but having said that, i completely understand if you think it’s not at all what you wanted and keep it how you have written it. Because i’m not in USA and i might miss thé spirit of thé project/times/feel or whatever…
Your donation helps make landrace gardening accessible to growers worldwide.
Going to Seed teaches ancestral selection methods, facilitates seed sharing, and promotes ongoing learning and experimentation. With these resources, gardeners can grow locally adapted crops that thrive without inputs - and can begin to shift the agricultural mindset.
Projects for 2023 include the Landrace Seed Library (which is already off to a great start!) and a new course on indigenous farming methods in southern Mexico.
Subtile: helping small farmers become self-sustainable by re-introducing (mostly forgotten) ancien seed saving techniques powerd by modern internet connectivité ans communities.
Our seed industry has created crops depending on inputs from thé agro-industrial industry, leading to soil dépravation, endless monocultures and a poisoned planet.
GoingtoSeed are teachers of a universal technique for ultimate local adaptation, while facilitating seed sharing.
GoingtoSeed helps people grow locally adapted gardiens that thrive without inputs ans respecting nature as is.
By making a donation you’ll help us empowering growers worldwide to reclaim forgotten self-help seed-saving techniques that in a concerted effort orchestrated by us could lead to global food security.
The fulfillment of thé réal green révolution, powered by thé people, building up soils , biodiversity and happiness!
These are great, Thank you @MashaZ, I think this is a perfect title for the current group.
@Hugo Love it! We can use this one in January. Would there be an audience in France at all for this? I think we are going to work on correcting video subtitles with @ThomasPicard so those videos can be easily subtitled in more languages, but that might not happen for a few months.
@Julia. Would there be an audience for a French garden genius in the States? It would surprise me. I’ve become quite pessimistic about the real intercultural exchange capabilities of peoples. Happily there are always exceptions. Me i’m a Dutch(Holland) migrant living in France, but the only Dutch one here so far. France is a deeply agricultural société where anything agraric finds an audience, there are quite a few on this forum. Salut, salut!
Young French people speak a lot of English nowadays. But because there are many technical termes involved, outside universities and very hip urban circles i wouldn’t expect many original French folk to be capable to follow the stories. Pioneers can take it further though.
So translating is a good idea I’d say, and for what it’s worth i’m willing to help Thomas.
French is one of a handfull world languages, according to Wikipédia the official language in 29 countries. Including a lot of Africa. Another world language is Arabic. Two places covered by these languages which would really benefit by landrace techniques.
Spanish and Portugese would cover Southern America.
Put seeds in the hands of future seed savers.
Seed the planet with diversity.
Save seeds to save the planet.
Support (Embrace?) seed diversity for a more equitable society.
Landrace to feed the human race.
@Hugo I, for one, would be very interested in learning from a French garden genius! I think there are many cultures around the world that have a deep tie to the soil and use gardening methods we haven’t heard of here in the US. Hoping to learn from them here!
Glad to hear it Debbie and a happy newyear! I am the same. I love to hear from different places, different cultures etc. Have you seen the Indian Water Cup Compétition? It’s one of those great things of hope. The astonishing power of people working together. FMNR another one, farmer managed natural regeneration in Africa. Or Willie Smits redesigning a rain forest to serve as an Uran Utan conservation for and by the people who profit and self rule. It’s amazing what we can do if we chose to. Landracing fits these above mentioned techniques, except it’s a world effort. Back to subject…
I meant to emphasise an observation in my previous comment you reacted to Debbie. Every so often a French movie or serie touches the zeitgeist, an exceptional US producer scouts it and decides to do an American remake. It attracts a wider audience if it’s remade, American setting and actors.
So what i am trying to explain Julia is that we might reach “exceptional producers”, French folk extremely inspired by landracing, but it would surprise me if the course would have the same relative succes as in USA, UK and Australia.
It would need a French remake. But for that to happen quicker the pathway would be translating.
And all this thinking is just based on my observations, i’d love to be proven wrong!
Hi @julia.dakin for the more general audience (and possibly for this community too) I would suggest targeted campaigns tied to concrete outcomes whenever possible. For example, a specific ask around the Seed Library, with x dollars donation we can provide seeds for y people/crops/land. The more tangible you can make it, likely the better results. I would also suggest considering what, if any, paid vs. application approach you might want to take. What I mean is you could keep the course and/or seeds paid, but make it easy for folks to say they can’t or would prefer not to pay, this way paid is default and you have to “opt-in” to free, more likely those that can pay, will which creates a revenue stream to support the broader work and those that can’t.
