Going to Seed is growing, and we need help! If you’re a self-motivated, seed-loving individual interested in part-time work with your favorite nonprofit organization, check out our job listing:
I love this idea, but alas, even as I love gardening and believe strongly in the grassroot movements and projects, I don’t have the experience y’all likely need. That makes me sad, as this is something I believe so strongly in. My background is all education, science and languages. My marketing, graphic design, and research writing skills are about nil.
I hope you find the right candidate! I’ve shared it on Pixelfed

I looked over the job description and it all looks pretty familiar and mostly pretty easy except for these three.
*“Coordinate volunteers, ensuring they are onboarded, and supported”
I assume onboarded means recruited
**“Respond to volunteer inquiries, conduct intake meetings, and send periodic check-ins to maintain engagement”
This second one seems basically like an extension of the first one
Research and track grant opportunities, assist with writing applications. Identify potential foundations, edit fundraising letters, and manage mailings
This one might be tough. When I worked for United Way, it was pretty easy. Most large corporations will have a “philanthropy” tab or something to that effect on their site and depending on the program it was generally pretty easy to find a match. From there just follow the application instructions EXACTLY and they would cut a check for a couple hundred grand.
Going to Seed is a small and unknown organization so it might not be so easy to find qualifying grants. It might take a bit of researching to find some that it qualifies for. I don’t remember Ford or Pepsi or GE having a giving category that GTS would fit. I have wondered how Julia found those that she was successful with. ***Just FYI, it is illegal for the person who writes a grant to be paid directly from it.
It might settle down after a bit but at first, recruiting and supporting volunteers, and identifying funding sources, I think might take a lot more than five hours a week. I don’t think I could do it in five hours a week or if so, not well.
Well, apparently I’m applying!
There is no way im going to pass up this opportunity!
Count me in as an applicant. Im putting together my resume and cover letter as well.
