How kind of them to spread all those nopales into the desert for the animals to eat.
For me, best practice when planting cactus involves armoring the planting site with stone, so that animals can’t easily carry off the pads, and eat them immediately.
Even with rock armor, the animals had at it. But it stayed rooted, and will likely survive.
