Webinar - Growing Seed on the Edge of Possibility

Thursday 30th of May 18.30-20.00 GMT (19.30-21.00 CET)

SeedTV is a webinar series hosted by The Gaia Foundation’s Seed Sovereignty Programme for the seed network in the UK and Ireland.

With our ever-changing climate including the recent cold, wet spring and last year’s summer when the sun barely came out at all, successfully growing seed crops throughout the UK and Ireland has become increasingly difficult and unpredictable. Join us for our next Seed TV webinar where we will be joined by Andrew McMillion from Norwegian Seed Savers (https://kvann.no/) and Finlay Keiller from Seeds of Scotland to discuss how they successfully grow seed crops against all the odds.

Speakers

Andrew McMillion works for Norwegian Seed Savers. He teaches classes in gardening, ecology, market gardening and of course seed saving. His roots ae in deep ecology and he came to seed saving through a desire to form a creative response to the ecological crisis. Among many exciting seed projects Andrew is busy with, he is currently breeding a pumpkin population for the Norwegian climate.

Finlay Keiller was born and raised on Shetland. After completing The Gaia Foundation’s Year-Long Seed Saving Course he and his partner Haley set up Seeds of Scotland, which is Scotland’s first vegetable seed company since the 1980s. Their catalogue features a carefully curated collection of open-pollinated seeds specifically selected for their ability to thrive in Scotland’s short season and beyond.

Tickets are £5, with an alternative donation or bursary option.
