Here is a quick update on my experiences selecting and growing snake beans with zero irrigation, zero imported fertility, no pest control and no mulching. It took a lot of trial and error to find the perfect variety for my conditions.

man, that sounds cool. When you say runners do you mean that 1 bean would produce multiple bushes? That’d be a really cool trait. This post makes me want to grow something similar. I used to grow yard long beans but this year I only have 1 trellis so I didn’t even really think about it, but I prefer them to normal green beans because you get way more pieces out of 1 bean making it easier to prepare for dinner. It’d be cool to try out a bush variety

By runners I mean a stem running along the ground that often sends up more flowering stalks, but no rooting beyond the initial seedling.
