I have yet to plant Armenian cucumbers for this 2024 season. I typically plant them late July as our monsoon season starts up with limited rainfall. All of my garden still gets irrigated with a sprinkler as we just don’t get enough rain to support a full grow season.
Did anyone plant their seed?
I added every variety I had on hand to the swarm mix and the recieved seed from growers in this community.
There is light green, dark green, striped and several that look curly or snake like. This melon, that is used like a cucumber likes hotter weather and typically does well here in zone 10 Arizona. Be sure to be mindful of flavor and don’t select the bitter ones for seeds. However, I would keep one for seed if its resistant to powdery mildew or any other fungal disease.
I don’t have pictures to share as of yet.
Hi @Kimzy. I have made a grex of about 10 strains of cucumber melons : some armenian (striped, long shaped) some more oval or ball like, many from south Italy strains (“carosellos” and co.). Grex started in 2022, stop in 2023, restarted with some new varieties added this year. I love them.
I did not grow any GTS if any such mix exists. I did grow my own Armenian Cucumbers from my test grow this Summer/Fall garden. I did collect seed and will be trying it out again. However it is a melon so if I grow melons out for seed collection next Spring I might hold this seed back until the Summer/Fall garden next year. Mine grew out all light green color.
