Very nice. He was one of the first YouTube gardeners that I followed. He’s got a very big subscriber base. Maybe that will cause some google searches and lead some of those people to this community.
When I type in “landrace gardening” on google, this site gets excellent placement. When I type in “landrace” seeds, this site doesn’t come up at least the first couple pages.
This is very good, except for the bit about recordkeeping. Somebody should clue him in…
I put a comment on, but it never appeared. Probably in spam because I put in a link to goingtoseed.
I’m glad the word is getting out. Decentralized.
Intense recordkeeping is fine, as long as a person enjoys that. I indulge in both lots and lots of finicky detailed recordkeeping, and just strewing things around randomly, depending on how finicky I am about the results. If I want something highly specific from a species (for instance, wanting to breed a thornless sweetleaf raspberry by crossing the thorny species with thornless cultivars of other raspberry species), I may very well wind up doing a lot of record-keeping! Of course, if I like the species a lot and simply want a lot more variation because variation is fun, then I’ll usually go with the “stick everything together and see what awesome things come up” approach.
