Perenniality is a trait many of us would love to introduce into our projects. The EFN just restocked some germplasm that could help you add this trait to a sorghum landrace.
AFAIK sorghum is perennial in the tropics (edit: seems this may be much less typical than I thought), so you could easily make the argument that you’re just breeding hardy sorghum. Either way, I’m extremely excited to source this as I started work on hardy sorghum this year, and thought other sorghum growers might be too!
These are also available from Adaptive Seeds in Oregon. EFN has overwintered theirs in much colder weather though and would be the better choice if you’re somewhere less mild.
Oh my, I didn’t even notice the $10 for 40 seeds at EFN. I don’t usually do price comparisons for seeds since they’re a one-time purchase but that’s a pretty significant difference!
