Gary Paul Nabhan

One of my early influences in gardening is a guy named Gary Paul Nabhan. He writes a lot of books.

I think I read Enduring Seeds first maybe around 1999 https://www.amazon.com/Enduring-Seeds-American-Agriculture-Conservation/dp/0816522596/

In Enduring seeds there is even a story from Eastern MT and old varieties of the Mandan Arikara and Hidatsa peoples.

Then there is The Desert Smells Like Rain https://www.amazon.com/Desert-Smells-Like-Rain-Naturalist/dp/0865470502/

In where our food comes from Gary talks about the famous Russian botanist who traveled the world looking for crop diversity to prevent future famines.

In growing food in a hotter drier land Gary talks about how to adapt to climate change.

Gary co-founded native seeds search Shop – Native-Seeds-Search
Where you can still find and buy historical landraces from the southwest.

He talks about landraces and the historical landrace concept in a lot of his books even for Turkeys. He also talks alot about wild crop relatives and the importance of geneflow with them and how indigenous peoples allowed that.

He definitely was an influence on me that led me to a similar place as Joseph even prior to 2016-2017. That along with Carol Deppe.
