Serendipity Seed Swap! (US)

How exciting!

One might say that the timing of you checking on the tracking number was even . . . serendipity. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Dang, I wish that I got the seed box after you lol. I love winter squash! If you want to go back onto the seed list I will want to be bumped down so I can be after you

I can send you some if you want. Looks like flat rate padded envelope or small box is $11. Pm me.

I’m aiming to get to the post office Saturday morning. If not then Monday. I want to keep it moving! So fun to go through, I wanted some of everything but that’s just not possible :see_no_evil_monkey:

Whoever put the honey locust in, I pulled out a couple bug holed ones. Just fyi if you have a bigger stash you want to check or freeze etc.

And I probably missed it but who put the cotton seeds in? I wanted to note where they were from.

Cotton seeds? That’d be me! Arkansas, 7b. It was growing on the median in front of a cotton seed oil press facility. No-input, obviously.

I think cotton is a very pretty plant, I grow it mostly just for decoration and it does very well in my garden in Indiana.

That’s fun! Do you ever use the fibers for anything?

Sorry for the delay, it got hectic here of course right when I thought I’d get the box moving quickly. :woman_facepalming: But it’s off in the mail yesterday and should be to the next stop soon!
On the bright side it was hectic because my SO and I are in contract for a house :tada::partying_face::tada:

Wow! Congratulations! Are you planning to plant lots of tasty perennials as soon as you get settled in?

Hey, @Rachel! The box is on its way to me now, and I plan to turn it around pretty quickly. It might take the full two weeks because I have to update the backup box (and refill anything that’s gone now from the backup box ). But if I can, I’ll be sending it on within a few days.

Will you be ready to receive the box within the next week to two weeks?

If so, PM me with your address, and start getting your seeds-to-go-in ready. If they’re already waiting with great anticipation, even better!

Also, if you have a wishlist of anythings you’re actively looking for, please let me know. It’s possible I may have something I wasn’t planning to include, and if I’ve got some, I could put some of that in for you!

I have so much I’m planning to put in. I can’t wait to share all those wonderful seeds.
(Rubs hands and cackles gleefully.)

I’ll be gardening but holding off the larger items like shrubs/trees until we see where the current trees shade and if we want to remove one.
I’d like to do some trees and train them short or espelier them. And things like mulberry to pollard for feeding the rabbits. And berry bushes.
So taking out a tree in order to grow way more stuff.

That makes sense! Spending a year observing your land in all seasons before adding anything big and permanent (as permaculture recommends) is probably a good idea.

Yes, I’m ready for seeds! This is such a perfect time of year to receive the box!
I’m always on the lookout for medicinal herbs. Also, I’m keen on things that can overwinter. But really, I’m looking forward to the serendipity aspect–just to see what comes through and be surprised!

We missed the cut off for the county tree sale (actually tree, berry, shrub sale) and the websites are pretty much all out of stock. So I’ll start stuff in pots and grow bags from seed but it’ll stay that way at least til winter/early spring when we’ll have our decisions by. And get orders in for other things bare root.

I know! It’s awesome to uncover cool surprises!

Yes, it’s definitely the perfect time of year to receive the box. That’s one of the reasons why I want to pass it along as quickly as possible!

I would like to be added to the list. Thanks for all your work coordinating and reviving this project (multiple times!)

You’re very welcome!

It looks like this is your seventh post. Can you ask again when you have ten posts? (I know, it’s a bit of an arbitrary formality when you have seven; I just want to make sure I obey the rules I set forth. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )

@Avery.bowron now has 10 posts!

Thanks! For some reason I hadn’t considered I wouldn’t be at 10 posts yet since I had something like 2.5k+ posts read :squinting_face_with_tongue:.

Ha ha ha ha! I’ve been there before. Whenever I join a new forum, I tend to lurk for a really long time reading loads of conversations before I start talking. I want to make sure I have something useful to say first!

Do you do that sort of thing, too?
