Just a quick note to let you know I have continued my podcasting work at the Zero Input Agriculture podcast, now available on all major podcasting distributors.
I will be alternating short episodes where I narrate past substack posts, with long form interviews talking to plant breeders, low input farmers, social networkers and deep thinkers all over the planet.
The first interview has dropped with Brian Reeder, a life long breeder of robust edible daylily which deserve much more attention in permaculture circles.
Sign up as I have months worth of amazing interviews ahead. The next interview will be with David Holmgren about the potential for plant breeding in permaculture.
Wonderful! Tons of pertinent information in regards to lillies, zero input, and beyond. I agree the potential for lillies is outstanding in permaculture, medicine, and edibility. Phenomenal guest. Thank you for the interview and thank you Brian for all your observations and amazing progress in the World of Lillies.
Quick personal note…I have dug thousands and thousands of ditch lilies in my day. Someone very special to me was blessed with them years ago via escapement from the neighbors. Always loved lilies and just wished they weren’t so labor intensive after a few years. (Crowd themselves out quick fast and in a hurry even in a clay soil. To me that just speaks to their vigor) Our most recent relocation consisted of THROWING the bulbs into the gulley to hold up the hillside. Deep shade, just lying on top , they still totally thrived. They were even blooming down there after just one season. Erosion control at its quickest, easiest, and full of beauty. Amazing.
Wonderful that such care and attentiveness has been spent and so many interesting observations noted. Really widened my horizons and I am viewing lilies in a new evolving light. Thanks!
Looking forward to listen to your new podcast. If I can wish, I would want to hear more about people breeding perennial crops. Always enjoy your interviews, esp. those that are very crop specific.
